Doris Virginia Anderson, 89, of Medford, N.J., passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., Doris resided in Dunellen, N.J., for most of her life before moving to live with her nieces in Medford and Medford Lakes., N.J. She received her master's degree from Seton Hall University, and went on to teach for many years at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, N.J. After her retirement, she continued to substitute well into her 70s. Her students still called her to this day. She enjoyed going to Senior Care in Marlton, N.J., where she made many friends. Doris enjoyed being active and loved golf, skiing, and traveling. She loved life, treated her nieces and nephews like her own children, and will be sorely missed by her many friends and family members. She is survived by her five nieces and two nephews, Mary Ann Driscoll; Michael Vail Levinsky; Susan Vail Woelpper and her husband, John; Randy Van Sant and her husband, John; Trey Anderson, Jim Anderson, and Cindy Blain; her sister-in-law, Jo Anderson; numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and her beloved friend Bella. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Mathis Funeral Home, Medford.
