Doris Norma Blom, 90, entered eternal life on May 8, 2014, in Pitman Manor in Pitman, N.J. A memorial service will be held at Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 North Broadway, Pitman, N.J. at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, with a luncheon immediately following. A brief service will be held following the luncheon at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Monroe Township, N.J. Memories may be shared at www.kelleyfhpitman.com. Doris was born on Jan. 16, 1924, in Newark, N.J., to Edmund and Antoinette Remacle, and grew up in Nutley, N.J. She graduated from Nutley High School. Doris was a registered nurse, graduating from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, N.J., which is now the Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, N.J. Doris was also a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She retired from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. Doris volunteered with the Girl Scouts and was actively involved for many years with ARC of Bergen-Passaic County. She volunteered for 21 years with RSVP of Ocean County, and also volunteered at Pitman Manor, where she worked with the United Methodist Women Bible Studies and helped with patient activities, and also was a volunteer for Ranch Hope. Doris is survived by her daughters, Linnea Knecht Peter of North Myrtle Beach , S.C.; Robin Rossbach (Kevin) of Abingdon, Md., and Jill Kane (Thomas) of Wayne, N.J.; six grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Bob; her son, Kristofer Blom, and her sister, Eileen Wagner.
