KING, DORIS MERLITTI, 88, of Louisville, passed away Thursday evening, January 19, 2006, at the Forum at Brookside. She was born in Akron, Ohio, and was a student of opera in Italy, and upon her return home to the United States, she starred at the San Francisco Metropolitan Opera. Doris was a past president of Our Lady of Peace Auxiliary. Her husband, William H. King, founder of Louisville Downs, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce King Jennings and three grandchildren, Chase, Carrie and Bill Jennings. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
