ROY, Doris Ilene (Née Alexander) The family announces with sorrow her death on Saturday August 17th, 2002 so bravely and on her own terms at Laurentian Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Dear daughter of the late Edward Alexander and the late Beatrice Alexander (née Anderson). Loving mother of Sandra Guitard, Joan Bostrom- Pattui (husband Arnie), Debbie Dacey and Cindy Roy all of Sudbury. Most cherished "Gram" to 9 grandchildren Derek, Dean, Brent, Curtis, Carrie, Samantha, Ryan, Kyle and Brandon. Extremely proud "Great Gramma" to Hayden, Logan, Taylor, Benjamin, Patrick and Emma. Doris is survived by her much loved only sister Murial Williams (husband Cliff deceased) and special sister-in-law Dorothy Alexander, both of Espanola. Predeceased by brothers Owen Alexander (wife Gil also deceased) and Alvin (wife Dorothy). She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many dear friends, some friendships going back nearly 8 decades, from her childhood at Birch Lake near Massey. Doris was a very hard working and energetic person before illness slowed her down. She was very generous and helpful to others. She was so very kind and compassionate to the clients she cared for during her years of providing homecare. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. Doris had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh and always enjoyed a good joke. A tireless "card player", she will be missed by her many friends at her two card groups. Doris will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her loving friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations to Heart & Soul Cancer Services would be appreciated. Memorial service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Friday, August 23rd, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium.
