DORIS H. VIENS -- ST. ALBANS — Mrs. Doris Helen Viens, age 84, a lifelong resident of St. Albans, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at her home with her loving family at her bedside. Doris married Oliva G. Viens Dec. 4, 1948, and together they devoted their life to their farm on Maquam Shore Road. She was born in St. Albans, Oct. 13, 1920, daughter of the late Homer and Helen (Tomelette) Gaudreau. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church; she also attended Holy Angels School. She was employed at the Sanders Drugstore and for a short time was employed in the dietary department by Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. Doris was a 53-year member of L'Union St. Jean de Baptiste Societe, always holding an office, a member of the former Holy Angels Mothers Club, a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a 15-year 4-H Club leader with her husband, Oliva, an advisor to the Vermont Extension Service, a member of the Milk Promotion of Vermont, the Farm Bureau, a member, with her husband, of the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery, The Holstein Association, Farmers Production Credit, Federal Land Bank Association, and always enjoyed attending the various conventions. Her first husband, Francis Guerino, was fatally injured in the Battle of the Bulge. Doris is survived by her beloved husband of over 56 years, Oliva; by her son Daniel and his wife Janet Guerino of Colchester; daughter Jacqueline and her husband Gregoire Desrochers of Norton, Mass.; her son, Gerald Viens of St. Albans; four grandchildren, Timothy and his wife Theresa Guerino, David and his wife Julie Guerino, Eric and Nicole Desrocher; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Guerino; her sister, Marguerite DelVecchio of West Haven, Conn.; several cousins, including a special cousin, Claire Muldoon of Maryland, with whom she resided while growing up; nieces and nephews. She also leaves many family members and friends in both Canada and other states. Besides her parents Doris was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and James Gilbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. Tuesday in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in the Viens family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Masses or memorials to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
