BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — Doris E. (Walker) Pickering, 95, of Brattleboro, died peacefully March 3, 2008, at Eden Park Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 17, 1913, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (McQuade) Walker of Dummerston, Vt.Mrs. Pickering retired from the Book Press in 1976 after 18 years. She then went to work for the Brattleboro Reformer for five years. In 1964 she married Lawrence E. Pickering, who predeceased her in 1992.Mrs. Pickering is survived by two sons, Ernie Chamberlin Sr. and his fiance, Nancy Curry of Dummerston, Vt., Gerald MacPherson Sr. and his wife, Donna, of South Berwick, Maine; seven grandchildren, Eileen Castine, Darlene Dean, Ernest Chamberlin Jr., Timothy Chamberlin Sr. Jareth Chamberlin, Gerald MacPherson Jr., Wayne MacPherson; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Clinton Walker, and a sister, Bernice Brodeur.A graveside committal service will be planned for later this spring at the convenience of the family. There will to be no calling hours at this time.
