Doris E. Nelson, 82, Port Charlotte, died Feb. 14, 2004. She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Jersey City, N.J., and came to Charlotte County in 1983 from Annapolis, Md. She retired as an administrative assistant for Westinghouse Electric in Annapolis, Md., and she attended Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John; a daughter, Linda Thompson of Sugarland, Texas; a son, Steven of Huntingtown, Md.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte chapter, is in charge.
