Obituary of Doris Cox


Doris Adaline Cox, of 11 E. Augusta Place #216, died Friday, February 15, 2008.She was a graduate of Simpsonville High School and Greenville Secretarial School. She was a former employee of Liberty Life Insurance Company, Winn-Dixie Stores and retired as Corporate Secretary for American Federal, now SunTrust, having worked there for 34 years. She was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Group #11 (Prayer Group) and Her Sunday School Class.Surviving are a niece, Karen Sauls Lindsey and husband Michael Lindsey; a great-niece, Michelle Lindsey Freeman and husband David Freeman; a great-nephew, Jeffrey Lindsey and wife Stephanie; one great-great-nephew; and two great-great-nieces, all of Piedmont. She is predeceased by her father and mother, William Mims Cox and Lila Owings Cox; and her sister, Henrietta Cox Sauls.Services will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of The Mackey Mortuary, with burial to follow in Standing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at The Mackey Mortuary.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 422 Pendleton Street, Greenville, SC 29601.The family will be at the home of Michael and Karen Lindsey.The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
