Doris Christine Russell Smith Doris Christine Russell Smith, 77, of the Wetumpka Community, passed away at Shands Hospital in Gainesville Wednesday, April 2, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Nina Tharpe (and husband Allen) of Quincy. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, April 5, at Antioch Church Cemetery in the Wetumpka Community.Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT today at Independent Funeral Home (850-875-1529). Fondly known as "Me-Maw" by family and friends, she devoted her life to the love and care of her family. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Jennifer Tharpe Clemans (and husband Melvin) of Quincy and Robert Allen "Buddy" Tharpe Jr. of Atlanta; a great-grandson, Brennan Oakley "Buckshot" Clemans of Quincy; a sister, Dorothy Ward of Telogia; along with numerous friends and extended family.She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Smith.
