Doreen Jean Purdy June 04, 1929 - February 14, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) It is with very great and personal sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Purdy on Monday, February 14, 2005 at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice in Calgary, after a short and courageous fight with cancer. She was 75 years old and will be deeply missed by her son, Greg; daughter-in-law, Dianna; and grandson John. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Robert and two children (Alana and Jay). She also leaves behind two brothers in British Columbia and will be also missed by many other family members, friends and all who knew her. Doreen was passionate about life and family and loved to travel. Married to an RCMP officer, she had lived in many cities and towns across Canada, from B.C. to Nova Scotia, and always considered Western Canada and B.C. in particular her home. She touched the lives and hearts of many people across the country over these years. A talented artist and homemaker, Doreen enjoyed drawing, quilting and needlepoint, and also became very familiar with the art of Japanese flower arranging. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed reading about ancient archaeology. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Foothills Hospital and the loving nurses and volunteers at the Sarcee Hospice for their exceptional care of Doreen during this difficult period. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. David Falk for his kindness and compassionate heart towards Doreen and her family.
