Doreen E. Harris 1940 - 2013 HAMPDEN - Doreen E. (Bates) Harris, 72, of Ames Rd. passed away surrounded by her family on June 9, 2013 at home. She was born October 17, 1940 in Greenfield, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Holmes) Bates. She was raised in Greenfield, lived in Palmer for many years before moving to Hampden where she had lived for 51 years. Doreen worked as a deli manager for 23 years at the former Shop Rite and at the Hampden Village Mart for many years. In her leisure, she enjoyed taking cruises, going to the Cape and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard Harris of Hampden and daughter, Susan Como and her husband Gary of Warren. She also leaves a sister, Terry Schofield of FL and three brothers, Charles Bates and Greg Bates both of Three Rivers and Randy Bates of FL, and two grandchildren, Tracy and Gary. Calling hours will take place on Friday, June 21st from 10:30-12:00 pm, followed by a Memorial service at noon in the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
