Nelson, Dora I.Nov. 11, 1927 - Nov. 13, 2012Dora I. Nelson, 85 of Sarasota, died peacefully on November 13, with her son and daughter in attendance and supported by SMH hospice staff. Loving wife and mother, Dora will be greatly missed by her family and friends.Born in Pennville, IN and raised on the Paxson family farm, she graduated from Elkhart Business College in Indiana, where she met future husband Jim, a WWII Navy veteran and the love of her life. They moved to Sarasota from Nappanee, IN in 1978 and had a wonderful life in retirement, making their home here with great friends. They enjoyed golf, a pastime that Dora continued after Jim's too soon passing in 1993. She had several hole-in-ones. Dora was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.Survivors include son Jim Nelson of Sarasota; daughter Deb, son-in-law Phil Solbrig and grandson Brian, of Bothell, WA; family in Indiana, includes "chosen" sister, Olive Paxson; brother, Dale Paxson and wife, Sue; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Kruse. We are grateful for the care and support of her dear friends here, particularly Nita, and the kindness and care of SMH and Heartland North staff these past several months.A Memorial Gathering will be Sunday, November 18, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Palm-Robarts Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Memorial Church 4150 S.
