PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Donna R. (Seymour) Brown, 63, passed away at home with her loving husband and family by her side on June 2, 2012. Donna was diagnosed with lung cancer in September of 2009 and she managed this challenge with dignity and perseverance. Born to Esther A. Copeland and John Seymour in Winthrop, Mass., on June 6, 1948, Donna graduated from Chelsea, Mass., High School in 1966. Several years later, the family moved to Derry, N.H. She later attended the University of New Hampshire at Merrimack Valley. She began a 26-year public service career with the Social Security Administration and held positions of increasing responsibility, where she excelled. Her employment included assignments in Manchester, N.H.; Lawrence, Mass.; Nashua, N.H. and Concord, N.H. Her final position was in the regional office in Boston as a program specialist. Among her many awards, she received the Boston Regional Commissioner's Citation in recognition of her exceptional public service to both the agency and the community. Shortly after her retirement in 2005, she and her husband, David, moved to Palm Harbor. She is survived by her husband, David Milo Brown of Palm Harbor, formerly of Derry, N.H., as well as her loving family, including her daughter, Sheryl Nazzaro-Shinault and her husband, Steven of Derry, N.H.; daughter Molly Brown and granddaughter Chloe of Lowell, Mass.; daughter Amy Smith and her husband, Dave, grandson Coleman and granddaughter Violet of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; son Matt Brown and his wife, Kristin and two grandsons, Brandon and Carter of Nottingham, N.H. She also is survived by her mother, Esther Smith of Jensen Beach, Fla., and her sisters, Jackie Termini of Hobe Sound, Fla. and Paula Hamilton of Loris, S.C. and three nephews, Bruce Termini, Tim Hamilton and Sean Hamilton. Donna had many hobbies. she loved to sew, making clothing for herself, her children, grandchildren and even their dolls. She was also an avid reader and loved playing the slot machines. Donna and David got the travel bug early in their marriage. They went to Europe several times, particularly enjoying the Rick Steves Italy tour. There were also many European and Caribbean cruises, and as of late, the most enjoyable time was spent in their favorite spot, Aruba. Donna had many lifelong friends she will miss dearly and wished to recognize: Sandy and Arthur Boutin, formerly of Derry, N.H., now residing in Cape Coral, Fla.; Sue and Dick Butts of Concord, N.H., and Diane and Vince Balukonis of Salem, N.H. . services: A Mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2757 Alderman Road in Palm Harbor, Fla., Saturday, at 10 a.m. A New Hampshire memorial service will be planned this summer for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Hospice of the Florida Sun Coast to support their fabulous work and continue their mission at www.thehospice.org.
