Obituary of Donna-M. Brown

NEW HOPE, Pa. Donna M. Brown (nee Perrow, nee Wilson), 60, of New Hope, Pa., supervisor of instruction for the Radnor Township school district, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 of colon cancer at the Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. Donna grew up as the only child of Vincent and Dorothy Perrow in Quincey, Mass. She attended Thayer Academy in Braintree and Emmanuel College in Boston where she majored in biology. She is survived by her husband, George L. Brown; and her two children, Matthew Wilson and Kelly (Kip) Wilson; and her much beloved grandchildren, Kip's daughter, Meg and Matt's daughter, Amelia. Donna was a very devoted mother but when her own children reached middle school age, she was finally more able to dedicate herself to her goal of assisting children of all ages to get the best education possible, particularly in the sciences. She taught science at Rectory School in Pomfret, Conn. and at Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y., while she began to pursue her own higher education. She received her master's degree in liberal studies from the College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y. and continued to apply her knowledge and enthusiasm in the positions she held at the New York State Department of Education and in the Guilderland and Rotterdam-Mohonasen school districts in N.Y. She is also the former president of the New York State Teachers' Association. Mrs. Brown's life changed in 1983 when she met her future husband, George L. Brown. Since their marriage in 1985, she was as fulfilled and content in her home life as her professional life. The couple moved to Pennsylvania in 1993 where she was the supervisor of science at North Penn until 1997 when she became the supervisor of instruction for the Radnor Township school district. She was also a frequent consultant for Carolina Biological through the Science and Technology for Children Advisory Committee. Mrs. Brown enjoyed traveling, spending time in their second home in Ft. Myers, Fla., Red Sox baseball and being with family and friends. She was very much loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to Donna's Life Celebration Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Leaver Cable Funeral Home, 4886 Old York Rd., Buckingham, Pa. (Rt. 202 and Quarry Rd.) where her service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions sent to the American Cancer Society, High Point Prof. Bldg., 700 Horizon Circle, Suite 201, Chalfont, PA. 18914, would be appreciated by her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Leaver Cable Funeral Home, Buckingham, Pa. A Life Celebration Home
