McINNIS, Donna Lee (nee Henderson) February 12, 1944 - September 3, 2007 Donna McInnis passed away on Monday, September 3, 2007 in Nashville, TN, after a brief battle with lung cancer and COPD. Donna was born on February 12, 1944 in Calgary to Hesperia and Ross Henderson. She grew up with a love of horses, riding, showing and participating in Pony Club. When Donna was thirteen, she left Calgary to attend the Helen Bush School in Seattle, WA. She graduated in 1961. Donna was accepted to The University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where she earned a B.A. in History and Political Science. She became very active in Delta Gamma and was President of her sorority her senior year. Upon graduation, she returned to Calgary where she married John C. McInnis. In 1977, after John finished his residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, they moved to Nashville. Donna was very involved in The Junior League and the early years of Nashville Historic Society. Through her work, buildings such as The Ryman Auditorium and Union Station were saved. It was also during her time with The Junior League, she served as the Cookbook chairman and revised the classic Nashville Seasons and Encore! She was a member of Hillwood Country Club and enjoyed tennis, golf and long hours lounging by the pool with her friends. In 1985, she began a career as a travel agent with Embassy Travel, eventually becoming a co-owner. Through her job, she was able to indulge her love of travel. Upon her retirement, she had the opportunity to cruise the entire world, visiting every continent, almost every country and all Seven Seas. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lee McInnis (Knapp) of Gulf Breeze, FL and Elizabeth McInnis Jackson of Chattanooga, TN; two grandsons, Cameron Knapp of Gulf Breeze and John of Chattanooga, TN.
