BROWN Dr. Donna Joan, BA, PhD, MBA September 7th, 1934 - May 13th, 2009 Our beloved Donna passed away following a very brief illness. Donna was predeceased by her loving parents Clifford and Margaret Brown. She was the dearly-loved Sister and Sister-in-law of Sandra and John Hanvey, the much-loved and devoted Aunt of Kevin, Shauna and Tod Hanvey and a cherished Great Aunt to Leah and Charles Hanvey. Donna was a brilliant and highly-accomplished scholar who earned post-graduated degrees at the University of Madison (PhD, 1971) and York University (MBA, 1989). In a career that spanned six decades, Donna held careers as challenging and varied as nursing and as a senior policy analyst with the Human Resources Branch of the Provincial Ministry of Labour in Ontario. Following her retirement, the last 10 years of Donna's life were spent in North Vancouver. She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement close to those who loved her and who she loved. We are all in awe of how much Donna gave of herself to our family without thought for herself. The many challenges that Donna faced throughout her life were always met with enormous strength, grace and great dignity. Despite the very rapid progression of her illness, a final trip before her passing was undertaken this Spring to Victoria with her dear sister Sandra, where they were able to visit gardens and bookstores and to enjoy one another's company as they had so often in the past. Shakespeare, The Tempest A memorial service for Donna will be held Friday, May 22nd at 1:30 pm at St Agnes' Anglican Church in North Vancouver, 530 East 12th with a reception to follow at The Carlton at the Club, 1327 East Keith Road, North Vancouver at 3:00 pm.
