Obituary of Donna Jackson


In addition to these accomplishments she has performed with such artists as James Cleveland, The Clark Sisters, Deneice Williams, DJ Rogers, Douglas Miller and nationally known BET Gospel Artist Bobby Jones. She has also done commercial spots for Kellogg's Corn Flakes, McDonalds and LaRabida Childrens's Hospital of Chicago. She gives all the glory and praise to God for endowing her with these extraordinary musical gifts. She truly believes that with God all things are possible for them that trust and depend on him. Donna says her biggest influence were her aunt and uncle, mother Delores and Elder David Blakely; sister Donna's biggest supporter and fan was her husband Elder Allen Jackson, who has been there for her for better or worse for 24 years. Donna devoted her time to Life Temple COGIC where she served as Minister of Music under the leadership of Pastor Robert Fleming. She was also a member of Randall "Fats Blakely & GI Praise, State Soloist for Indiana Third Jurisdiction; Church of God in Christ and a former member of the Thompson Community singers. She was retired from SBC Tele-Communications Company after 28.5 years of service in April of this year. Her favorite color is, as you all know, PURPLE!!!! Preceded in death by her mother Ollie Mae Blakely. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Allan David Jackson; her loving father Elder William O. Blakely Jr. of Gary. Also survived by four sisters Norma J. Mack of Milwaukee, WI, Carol J. Blakely of LA, CA, Wilette O. Blakely of Gary, IN and Sandra D. Blakely of LA, CA; three brothers: Ronald S. Brakely of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Randall S. (Ernice) Blakely of Merrillville, IN and William O. (Nicole) Blakely III of Indianapolis, IN; nieces: Tisha Williams, Brittany Taylor, Carlette (Christopher) Edwards, Dominique Mack, Terrilyn Dennie, Carleen Blakely, Dana Mack and Jasmine Dennie; nephews Brandon Jackson, Dewitt Jackson Jr., Javaugh (Felicia) Blakely, David Mack, Terrance Dennie, Armone Blakely and William Blakely IV; sister-in-law Hattie Jackson and Beverly Taylor; brother-in-law Pastor Dewitt (Sharon) Jackson, Eld Ray ( Darlene) Jackson, Sandy (Kathy) Emerson. Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 10:00 at Reed's Temple Church of God in Christ, 1300 N. Broad St., Griffith, with Superintendent Dewitt Jackson officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 3711 Pennsylvania Ave., East Chicago, IN from 2-6 p.m. Family hour 6-7 p.m. with a musical Tribute at 7:00 p.m. Please send all flowers to the church.
