With his loving children by his side, Donat Marcel “Don” Rochon died November 26, 2008, at the Temiskaming Hospital. He was 87. He was born January 1, 1921 at St-Bruno-de-Guigues, Quebec, to Edouard Rochon and Olivine Lachapelle. He was raised in Haileybury and worked most of his life in the mining sector in Noranda, Elliot Lake a nd Timmins where he retired from Kidd Creek Mines as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Rochon enjoyed golfing, curling and time with his family. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, his family came first above all else. Mr. Rochon was predeceased by his parents; beloved wife Cécile Sylvester (1986); and by his brothers Ozias and Antoine who died November 28, 1953 during the Korean War. He is survived by his loving children Allan (Claire) Rochon of Haileybury, Bob (Mara) Rochon of Woodbridge and Louise (Cliff) Geddes of Haileybury; grandchildren Michael, Claudette and Denis, Matthew and Stephanie, Kerri-Ann and Shaun; numerous great-grandchildren; and his siblings Mathias, Edna, Cécile, Margot, Jeannette and Gilbert. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at the Haileybury Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home.
