LUCAS Donald, age 81, died peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011. Born in Hawthorne, Don was raised in Fair Lawn and had lived in Hawthorne for the past sixty years. Donald was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Midland Park for thirty-one years until retiring in 1980. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. A member of Faith Reformed Church, Midland Park for over fifty years, Don served as a deacon and elder. Don is survived by his beloved wife Irene, to whom he was married for 57 wonderful years, his daughter Shari Lucas of Niantic, CT, his son Scott and wife Debra of Fair Lawn, and three grandchildren; Melissa, Kelly and Suzanne Lucas. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating Don's life will take place on Wednesday, 10:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432, would be appreciated.
