GARDINER, DonaldDon was born in Hamilton, ON, March 8, 1949. His family moved to Lemberg, SK when he was an infant and it was there that he lived before retiring in Emerald Park, SK after farming for 43 years. Don was a loyal husband, father, friend and true gentleman. Sports were his passion and he was a natural athlete; if he wasn't playing it, he was watching it. He woke up with the sun in the morning, eager to put in a full and enjoyable day and took pride in all he did. Don enjoyed the simple things in life: sitting on the deck with a drink, listening to the birds chirping, admiring his yard and talking with or texting his beloved friends and family. He was full of laughs, loved nature, movie nights, shopping and never said no to spending time with his kids. Don passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Kate (Ellert) Gardiner; daughter Meghan (Mitch) Hoehn; son Mason Gardiner; nephews Bob and Doug (Marie) Gardiner; brother Bill (Janet) Gardiner; in-laws Nancy Agassiz, Bob (Clara) Ellert, Leslie (Vic) Engstrom, Mike (Carla) Ellert, Patti (Kim) Tendler and Sandi (Ryan) Day; his many nieces and nephews and several dear and close friends who he loved spending time with. Don was predeceased by his parents Harold and Doreen Gardiner; father and mother-in-law Alex and Nellie Ellert; brother Robert Gardiner; sister-in-law Karla Gardiner; nieces Kathryn Gardiner, Julie Engstrom, Alyssa Phillips and nephew Dawson Ellert. A CELEBRATION OF DON'S LIFE will be held at the Lemberg Community Hall, Lemberg, SK on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Donations in memory of Don may be made to Skate4Smiles with all proceeds going to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan in Memory of Dawson Ellert.
