Obituary of Dolores-Theresa Carter


WINSLOW -- Dolores Theresa Carter, 84, passed away peacefully after a short illness at MaineGeneral Medical Center on Dec. 26, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Winslow, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mabel (Montminy) Carter and was a lifetime resident of Winslow. Early in her life, she was an employee of Harris Bakery and Hathaway Mill, and later she devoted herself to helping her parents at Carter's Greenhouse on Clinton Avenue. Del enjoyed hunting and fishing in her younger days. She also loved gardening, playing bingo and entertaining her family with the harmonica. For the past 20 years she was a loving member of her sister's family: Cecile (Carter) and Bill Trapnell and nieces Stephanie and Cyndi. She was the sister of Jeannine Morisette, Cecile Trapnell, Jean, Francis, Roland, Patrick, and the late Richard, Donald, Robert, and Joe (Fernand). She is survived by her siblings, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Funeral services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument St, Winslow, on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. At the request of the family there will be no visiting hours. Condolences may be expressed at www.veilleuxfuneral home.com, and donations may be made in Del's memory at St. John's Church in Winslow.
