Obituary of Disie-Mae Powell


Disie Mae Powell, 80, died April 22, 2006, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. She was born in Greenville, Ala., and lived in Fort Pierce for 60 years, coming from Greenville. She was a member of Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, the board of the Mothers of the Church, pastor aide and a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her sons, Sheppard Powell Jr. of Fort Pierce, Lewis Charles Savage of Fort Lauderdale, Alfonso Jones of Detroit, William Betts Jr. of Tampa, Arndre Blocker of Fort Pierce, and Alto Blocker Jr. of Mavo; daughters, Annie Powell-Ingram of Fort Pierce, Fredericka Lafleur of West Palm Beach, Dorothy Townsend, Amy Richardson, Patsy Roberts, Lillie Worthen, and Christy Tillman, all of Fort Pierce; brothers, Albert Powell, Robert Lee Powell and Jimmy A. Powell, all of Cleveland; sisters, Ruthie Mae Minor, Annie L. Herbert, Betty Moorer and Mabel Feagin, all of Greenville, and Lucy Hale of Akron, Ohio; and six grandchildren. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. April 29 at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce and from 9 a.m. to noon April 30 at Sarah's Memorial Chapel, Fort Pierce. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. April 30 at Greater Faith Church of God in Fort Pierce. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce.
