Diane Marie Bell Smith passed away peacefully Monday March 28, 2011 after a brief stay at the Bailey Hospice Center in St. Augustine, Fla. Diane was born Jan. 11, 1941 to parents George and Marion Bell of Bolivar, N.Y. Diane lived in Wellsville, N.Y., until 1966 when she moved with her husband and family to Atlanta, Ga. Diane and her husband, Marty, were part-time residents of St. Augustine, Fla., since 1978 and moved to Crescent Beach permanently in 2003.Diane will be remembered for her loving, warm, gentle and caring spirit, determination and love for life. She never met a stranger and after you spent time with her you walked away feeling like you just made a new friend. She will always remain in the hearts of those she touched, so strong was her spirit. Diane was pre-deceased in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Bell. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Marty Smith; her loving children, Chris Smith, Marcia Smith, Marty and Shane Smith; and her beloved grandchildren, Maggie and Shane Smith as well as by countless numbers of friends all of whom will deeply mourn her loss. Diane is also survived by brothers, Jack Bell (Carol) of Kane, Pa., Jim Bell of Hickory, N.C., and George (Karen) Bell of Bolivar, N.Y.A memorial service celebrating Diane"s life will be held at a later date.Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice for Northeast Florida, Bailey Hospice Center St. Augustine, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
