Smith, Diane E. COLONIE Diane Elizabeth Bellew Smith passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital from complications following open heart surgery. Diane was the daughter of the Elizabeth McMorris and Vernon Michael Bellew of Oneonta. Diane married David Earl Smith on June 21, 1969 at First United Methodist Church of Oneonta. Diane was a graduate of Oneonta High School and Binghamton General Hospital of Nursing. Diane practiced as a pediatric nurse in Binghamton General Hospital prior to marrying David. Diane was a dearly beloved wife and partner to David in his work as a United Methodist pastor with Troy Annual Conference. She served as volunteer secretary, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, president of the United Methodist Women's Group, counselor at Skye Farm Camp's summer program, and as a certified lay speaker. Diane also served on the annual conference level of the United Methodist Church as treasurer of the Albany district. Diane was also involved in the communities where David was pastor with the Red Cross and as a dispatcher for the Fonda-Fultonville Area Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Most of all though, Diane will be remembered for the many individuals she befriended and always being ready to listen to the problems of others. Diane is survived by her two sons, Sean Michael and his spouse Jennifer and Christopher and his spouse Barbara. She is also survived by grandchildren, Anna and Emily Korniak, Kristine Hart, Dina Dupuis, Nicole Hart; and great-grandchildren, Brett Kelly, Hannah Cook, Jessica Mattelain and Emily Dupuis. Funeral from the Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church, 943 Palmer Avenue, Schenectady Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
