Obituary of Delia-Mae-Flowers Johnson


JOHNSON Delia Mae Flowers Johnson, was born on January 6, 1923 in Adel, GA. As a young adult, she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she met the late Rev. William H. Johnson and married him on July 9, 1946. God blessed this union with eight children. She served faithfully as a deaconess and in other positions at Fellowship Baptist Church since the 1950s. In 1983 she retired as a custodian from the Duval County School Board. After retirement she attended the J. S. Johnson Senior Center where she volunteered when needed. On June 20, 2002, she peacefully departed this life. Memories of her will be forever cherished by her children, Wilbur, Calanthea Hires, Linda Wilson, Joseph, William A., David and Roxie Wyatt; a devoted sister, Armetta Manns; 2 sisters-in- law, Annie Mae Scippio and Ruby Johnson; 1 brother-in-law, Charlie Johnson (Doretha); 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 11:00AM at Were For Jesus at 3260 Lenox Ave. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
