PATTEN - Delbert Guy Higgins, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Cliffordvale, New Brunswick, the son of Donald Harold Higgins and Ada Pearl (Dee) Higgins. He was also the stepson of Elery B. Donovan. He was a World War II veteran and upon being discharg-ed, returned to the family farm in Patten, then later worked for local potato farmers for the rest of his career. He loved working in the out-of-doors. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards, watching his favorite sports teams and snowmobiling. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Marie (Shorette) Higgins; their five children, Karla, Kathy, Kevin, Kristie and Kirk and their respective spouses; 10 grandchildren, Heidi, Randy, Lori, Alisha, Nicole, Lyndsay, Kami, Neal, Adria and Kadin; three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Willow and Karli; one brother, Clinton; two special cousins, Ronald Dee and Gayle (Dee) MacHenry; and three special friends, Faye Brown and Willie and Leah Willis. He was predeceased by a dear grandson, Kaleb. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
