Deanna Grace MacLeod (née Cormier) February 13, 1944 - August 23, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Deanna Grace (Cormier) MacLeod age 61 of Amherst passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. after a brief illness. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Mary (LeBlanc) Cormier. Deanna graduated from St. Charles High School and St. Charles Commercial School as the valedictorian of her class. She was an ambitious and highly dedicated employee for over 27 years with The Bank of Nova Scotia, where she became one of the first female Bank Managers in the province of Nova Scotia. Deanna served as a volunteer on the Amherst Police Commission, where again she was the first female to serve on this board. Following her retirement from The Bank of Nova Scotia in 1998 she joined the team at The Product Finder, Amherst, where she worked until her recent illness. She enjoyed reading, bowling, all genres of music, traveling, dancing, however, her greatest enjoyment was, entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grannie and will be sadly missed. Deanna is survived by her loving husband Herbert and daughter Mary Kay at home; one step daughter Christy - Sue Olson of Canton, Michigan, USA; two sisters Audrey (Fred) Farrow of Amherst and Eleanor (Roger) Arseneau of Truro NS, ; three brothers Lawrence (Palm), Ronald, and Gerald (Martha) all of Amherst; two sister -in -laws, Shirley Cormier and Keith Cormier both of Amherst; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Jean Estabrooks and five brothers Leon, Joseph, Raymond, Roy and Doug. Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Thursday, August 25, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 10 a.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll and Father David MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. Donations in Deanna's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. www.campbells-amherst.ca
