JOHNSON Deacon Richard Ernest, 90, lived in Rutherford, NJ since 1943. He departed this life on Friday, June 15, 2007. Born in Hackensack, NJ. Deacon Johnson was a Tire Retreader for Hudson Tire Exchange in Hackensack, NJ for 45 years until retirement. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Rutherford, NJ. He served on the Deacons Board, Past President of the Usher Board and Men's Club. He was also a former Trustee, Chairman and Treasurer. Deacon Johnson was a member of AARP and Golden Age Club of Rutherford. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" E. (Brown) Johnson; the loving father of Marvin E. Johnson and Marlene E. Holmes; he is the grandfather of Christopher J. Epps and Monica E. Johnson; the great-grandfather of Christopher J. "CJ" and Tatiana C. Epps; he is the father-in-law of Sandra E. Johnson and Donald J. Holmes; the beloved uncle of Alma Middleton, Pauline Sappington, Herbert L., Harold and Norma Johnson. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Services Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 12 noon, Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 27 Elm St. Rutherford, NJ.
