->Deacon Charles E. DavisPoughkeepsie - Charles E. "Chooch" Davis loved his family and friends. He was born December 8, 1952 to the late Matthew Lee Davis and Lucille Pittman-Davis. He departed this life on December 21, 2013 at St Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY when the Angel of the Lord touched him and said it is time my child.His early education took place in Halifax County School System, Halifax, NC. He relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1964 and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School where he was Quarterback on the Varsity Football Team and Center on the Varsity Basketball Team. He also attended Marist College. He received a Diploma in Food Service while working at Hudson River Psychiatric Center. He retired as a Food Service II Supervisor after 26 years of devoted service.Charles married Sarluta Anderson on August 15, 1987. He is survived by his wife at home; sons Tyrone Davis (Deneice), Charles Davis, Jr., Mark Anderson (D'Juana) and daughter Lauren Chez Anderson, two sisters Doris Saunders (Julius) and Vernell Johnson; two brothers, Glen Johnson (Judy) and Joe Johnson, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren; five God-children, and sister-in-law Doris Brown all of Poughkeepsie, NY; brothers-in-law Alvin Cherry (Virginia) and Hollis Cherry (Rose) of Rich Square, NC and a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.Charles was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church until his health started failing. He was a dedicated servant on the Deacons Ministry, member of the Men's Choir, Usher and Fine Gold Men's Ministries; past Deacon advisor for the Sunday School and Junior Deacon Ministries.Charles was predeceased by his first wife Pearl Durello-Davis, his parents, a brother Nelson Lee Davis, a sister Novelene Johnson and nephew Willis Johnson.Deacon Davis will lay in repose 10-11am Friday, December 27, at Beulah Baptist Church 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie. Services 11am at the church. Reverend Jesse V. Bottoms will officiate,. Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Homes 43 Fairview Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. "Committed To Being The Very Best".
