David-Tinsang Lee-Ying, spouse of Mary Lee-Ying, father of Julie, Roy, Richard and Danielle, died on January 22, 2006.
LEE-YING, David Tinsang 1946 - 2006 The morning of January 22, 2006, after a courageous four-year battle with lung cancer, David, a devout Catholic and non-smoker, passed away peacefully at home. He was in the loving care of his wife, Mary, and their four children, Julie, Roy, Richard, and Danielle. In his final hours he was surrounded by his siblings, John, Paul, Ann and Alice; their spouses; his nieces and nephews, and their children. He was never alone. Born in Macau, and raised in Trinidad, David grew up surrounded by love and happiness. He graduated from the universities of Cambridge and London, England where he received his B.A. and M.Sc. in petroleum engineering. He worked in Trinidad for a time and then moved to Toronto where he was married and raised his family. In 1995, he moved with his family to Calgary. He lived a selfless life and will be greatly missed. A Visitation will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE & CREMATORIUM, 12700 Macleod Trail South (Telephone 297-0711) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2006. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre for lung research, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. David will be buried on Saturday, January 28, 2006 after a second church Service in Toronto.
