Mr. David Russell Gallant December 3, 1945 - January 4, 2009 GALLANT, David "Russell" 63, Halifax, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 4, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with his wife by his side. Born in Halifax, Russell was the only child of Joseph and Kathleen (Sampson) Gallant. Surviving are his wife, Deborah (Ryan) Gallant, Halifax; daughters, Tracey, Halifax; Nicole (Troy Gilkie), Sambro; grandchildren, Matthew Gallant, Steven Smith Jr., Joey and Alyssa Gilkie; brothers, Gordon Sampson, Bedford; Freddy Cookson, Halifax; Ernie Gibson "uncle", Sackville; sisters, Sheila (Donny) LaViolette, Sackville; Doris Snair, Halifax; Linda MacKenzie, Mary Blunden, Sharon MacDonald. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by birth parents, Richard and Martha (Sampson) Cookson; brothers, John and Richard; brother-in-law, Arnold Snair. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, January 8, at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayer's Rd., Halifax. Interment will be held at a later date.
