David Reese Williams of BinghamtonDavid Reese Williams, a lifelong Binghamton resident, died Saturday, at his home, at the age of 61. Mr. Williams was the son of Dr. Mark and Lorna DeSousa Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Pauletta Hazilla Williams. Mr. Williams leaves three children from his first marriage to Valerie Fulton, Jack Williams, Binghamton and his wife, Michele, Jennifer Costa, East Brunswick, N.J. and her husband, John, and Sibyl Reynolds, Endwell and her husband, Cristino; a sister, Susan O'Sullivan, Washington, D.C. and her husband, John; a cousin, Dr. James Johnson, who was a pediatrician in Binghamton for many years; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Emily, and Jillian Costa, Nicole and Jonathan Williams, Adam and Sam Reynolds; two nieces, Sarah and Katie O'Sullivan. He graduated from Mercersberg Academy and Brown University. After teaching at Binghamton Junior High School, he became a social worker for the State of New York, a position he held until he retired to open Chenango Sporting Gallery in his fathers old medical office at 63 Front St., where he sold sporting equipment and clothing for the fly fisherman and hunter including flies that he tied. Mr. Williams was a skilled and avid outdoorsman all his life and spent a good deal of time at a fishing camp he owned at the confluence of the Delaware River and Equinunk Creek in Pennsylvania. A man of several parts, Mr. Williams was also a skilled writer, pianist, and chef. His inquiring and incisive mind and wide reading equipped him well to serve as a critic at large for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22 at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 30 Main St., Binghamton. Dr. David Dik will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 57 Front St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905. Arrangements are by the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, Inc. 71 Main St., Binghamton.
