David Lee, born in 1950, spouse of Roxanne Lee, son of Melvin, father of Saoirse, died on March 11, 2012 at 61 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
LEE, David M. September 17, 1950 - March 11, 2012 Perhaps the best damn speaker reconer in the world, and a man who never turned down helping someone in need, David died suddenly March 11, 2012 at the age of 61. David was born in Oakland, California on September 17, 1950 and moved to Vancouver with his family in 1967, briefly returning to the United States before realizing he already lived in the best place on earth. For most of the last 30 years David was the heart, soul and social bank account of Vancouver Audio Speaker Clinic, employing various eccentric and wonderful people and giving emergency assistance to countless night clubs, traveling road shows and neophyte speaker owners who, against common advice, had turned up the volume just a tad high. He could usually be found sitting in his chair, cheerfully giving more free advice than paid, answering the phone and directing work, all while burning his fingers on yet another short speaker wire. David leaves a widow, Roxanne, stepson Michael Matwick, mother Beverly, sister Jan (Jack), brothers Jeff (Amanda) and Ron (Todd), nephews David and Mark (Lynne and daughter Saoirse), niece Sharon and many, many friends. Predeceased by his father, Melvin. He will be sorely missed. He's not reconing any more speakers, but the sound we heard from his own was pure music to us. A celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday, March 18 at Van Dusen Gardens at 2 p.m. in the Peggy Gunn Woodland Hall.
