David-Eric Williams, spouse of Deborah Williams, son of Norman and Grace, father of Kathryn, Eric, Kristin and Tracy, died at 68 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
WILLIAMS David Eric Williams, 68, departed this life on August 22, 2011 in Ohio, following a long battle with scle roderma. Born in Montreal, Canada he was the second of eight children born to Norman and Grace Williams. Dave graduated from Milford High School in 1961, andput himself through college at Norwalk Technical School andat Angola State University in Indiana, graduating as an engineer. His career in the tire industry included Mansfield Tire, General Tire, andSmithers Scientific Services in Akron, OH.He traveled abroad to China, Germany, India, and frequently to Korea. Dave retired this past March after 38 years with Smithers. While not at work Dave was rarely idle. He was always involved in one project or another, whether his, a family member's, or a friend's. Dave had a strong love of, and commitment to family. Many years ago he held the 1st family road rally in Ohio, which was so greatly enjoyed that it was re-created and participated in by many family members here in CT over long Thanksgiving weekends. With his own family, Dave made every effort to return to CT to share this Thanksgiving tradition for many years. The Williams spirit of competition did much to enliven these get-togethers. He also had a strong religious faith and was active in his church for many years, including being a member of a weekly bible study group for over 30 years. Dave also enjoyed photography, birdwatching, nature, any beach, walking or hiking, and reading. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Deborah, his children, Tracy (Virgil) Whitmyer, Kristin (Nicholas) Bender, Eric Williams and Kathryn Williams, grandchildren, Eva, Lucy, and Penelope Whitmyer, brothers, James (Debra) Williams Norman (Marilyn) Williams, Richard Williams, Robert (Kathleen) Williams, sisters Dawn Ryan, Grace (Bernard) Cayer, and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan Williams, and brother-in-law William Ryan. Services were held at The Chapel in Ohio on August 26, 2011.A private memorial will be held by his immediate family at a later date.
