David D. Meads Jr., 80, of Monroe Township, N.J., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at the Lester Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg, N.J. Cremation will be private. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Meads lived in Cedar Grove, N.J., before moving to Monroe Township in 1967. He was employed as a truck driver for eight years by the Southern Container Corporation, South Brunswick, N.J., retiring in 2002. Previously, he drove for Mahon's Express, Newark, N.J., for 25 years and Sampson Steel in South Brunswick. Mr. Meads was an Army veteran during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Venskus) Meads, in 1997. Surviving are his three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Richard Repoli of Marlboro, N.J., Linda and Wayne Modzelewski of Monroe Township, and Marianne and Thomas Taylor of Jamesburg; his son, David D. III and his wife, Diane, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and 13 grandchildren.
