David C. Duren III, passed away June 2, 2008. David was born August 26, 1947, in Thomasville, Ga. He resided in Port Orange since 1973 with his wife of 36 years, Kathy, who survived him. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 35 years, and also retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves. He worked part-time for the Daytona International Speedway for over 30 years. Even before his first child was born, David coached youth baseball and soccer for many years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Knowles Duren. He is survived by his children, April Davy and Michael Duren; his father, David C. Duren, II, Jacksonville; sister, Patricia Ann Young, Thomasville, Ga.; his twin sister, Mildred "Becky" Walls, Jacksonville; and brother, Rickey Duren, Maxville, Fla. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. David was very devoted to his family and an exceptionally kind and giving person who was always there for everyone. Visitation will be held Friday at the Cardwell & Maloney Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the First United Methodist Church of Port Orange.
