Obituary of David-Albert King


Funeral for David Albert King, 83, of Decatur will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Bagwell, the Rev. Scott Harris and the Rev. Vick Vickers officiating.Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. King died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at his residence. He was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Morgan County to Jesse E. King and Modille McKee King. Mr. King owned and operated King’s Grocery Store on Moulton Street and was retired from Sandlin Gifts and Hardware. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. King was a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church until it’s closing, and was presently a member of Austinville United Methodist Church and the Austinville United Methodist Men’s Club. He was recognized for his many years of volunteer work for the Even Start School. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Kitchens King; one stepson, Percy Phillips of Huntsville; one brother, Jesse King of Decatur; one step granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry McKenzie, Jeff Harris, Keith Harris, Jimmy Smith, Ronnie Ryan and Bobby King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Austinville United Methodist Church Building Fund in Mr. King’s memory.
