ADAMS - Mr. David Hugh Adams of Regina passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by his wife, Rita; parents, David and Janet; brother, George; and sister, Liz. He is survived by his sons, Mickey (Joan) of Kenosee Lake, Gerry (Morrie) of Calgary; three grandchildren: Amanda (David), Julie and Shelby; brother, John (Ester); and loving companion Barbara Hill. Born in North Berwick, Scotland, David immigrated to Canada and was raised in Roland, Manitoba. He joined the Air Force at 17 years of age. After the war he returned to Swan River, Manitoba where he worked as a type setter for the local paper, met and married his wife Rita. Later he joined CJGX Radio in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, working as a Newsman, and hosted many events such as variety/talent shows. Later Dave accepted a position with Labatt Brewery, finishing out his career with Corby Meager Distillery. There is no doubt that Dave touched many peoples' lives throughout his travels. His true love was being the event announcer for many local community rodeos, including Yorkton, Esterhazy, Russell, Morris, and his favorite, Swan River Round Up, where he was honored as the Original Announcer at the 50th anniversary celebration in 2005. Dave's accomplishments were many, including being inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, as the Catcher for the Bowsman Baseball Club from 1948 1953. He always had a colorful story to tell, and loved to share his many experiences over the years. He was an avid gardener, loved to cook and entertain friends. He will be remembered fondly and truly missed. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina.
