ObituaryDale Walter Anderson, 103, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Highland, IN and San Diego, CA went to be with the Lord on July 26th, 2010. He went peacefully while at home. He was born to the late Walter R. and Lucrecia G. Anderson on May 21st, 1907 in Cuba City, WI. His brother Lyle also preceded him in death. He moved to Battle Creek, MI where he attended grade school and further graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1925. After attending the University of Michigan from 1925 to 1928, a severe attack of arthritis required Dale to join his family and dry weather in Mexico as he recovered. Returning in the fall of 1929, Dale was of the 1930 graduating class of the University of Michigan with an Electrical Engineering degree. He was then recruited by Northern Indiana Public Service Company in Hammond, IN as an Engineer and after 47 years he retired as their as their Vice President of Operations in 1977.He was married to the love of his life Helen Lucile Hemingway for 67 years until her passing in May of 2000. Dale is preceded in death by his son William, and survived by son Thomas, daughter-in-law Pat and Claire, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.During World War II, he taught nights at Purdue University for their War Training Program. His accomplishments include serving as Past President of the Indiana Gas Association, Former Chairman of Indiana Electrical Association, Past President of the Lake County Society for Crippled Children, Past President of Trade Winds Rehabilitation Center of Gary Indiana, Former Director of the Lake area United Way, Past President of Calumet Goodwill Industries, Past President of Hammond Rotary Club, Board of Directors of the Bank of Indiana, Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Life Member of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge, Member Hammond Orak Shrine of Michigan City, IN, Life Member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Member of the University of Michigan Emeritus club, Life Member of the Scottish Rite of South Bend, IN, Member of the East Chicago and Whiting Chambers of Commerce. Dale enjoyed golfing regularly in the same foursome for over forty years and golfed his age at eighty.Services were held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Fuller Cape Coral Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S.
