DALE WALTER ANDERSON CAPE CORAL, FL FORMERLY HAMMOND, IN Dale Walter Anderson, 103, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Hammond, IN, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2010 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born to the late Walter R. and Lucrecia G. (nee Bunt) Anderson on May 21, 1907 in Cuba City, WI. He attended grade school in Battle Creek, MI, graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1925, attended the University of MI from 1925-1929. Dale suffered an attack of arthritis in 1928 and recuperated in Mexico with his parents for 15 months. He returned to the University of MI in the fall of 1929 and graduated in 1930 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Dale was recruited as an Engineer at Northern Indiana Public Service Co. in Hammond in 1930. He married the love of his life, Helen Lucile Hemingway in 1933, preceding him in death in May 2000. Dale Walter and Helen Lucile had two sons: Thomas Dale, born 1937 and William Ray, born 1943 (deceased). Dale taught at Purdue University in the evening War Training Program from 1942-1944, served as President of Indiana Gas Association from 1969-1970, and served as Chairman of the Indiana Electric Association from 1974-1975. Dale retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. in 1977 as Operating Vice-President Registered Professional Engineer. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, life member of the University if Michigan Alumni Association, and life member of Scottish Rite of South Bend, IN. Dale served on the Board of the Bank of IN, Past President of Hammond Rotary Club, Past Director of Royal Order of Jesters and Past President of Trade Winds Rehabilitation Center in Gary, IN. He was a member of the University of Michigan Emeritus Club, Hammond Rotary Club, Masonic Garfield Lodge, Orak Shrine of Michigan City, IN, Royal Order of Jesters, and Elder of First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Patricia); sister-in- law, Katherine; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Graveside service will be conducted on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Burns-Kish Funeral Home, Munster, IN is in charge of local arrangements.
