Obituary of Dorothy-Sims Johnson


JOHNSON, DOROTHY SIMS Dorothy Sims Johnson. Born in New York City, daughter of Viola and Nelson Edwin Sims. Lived in New Rochelle, NY and attended schools there. Upon graduation, she attended Fraebel League Teachers College and Packard School from which she graduated in New York City. She married to Gustav W. Johnson, also of New Rochelle, NY. While he was in the service, she lived with him in Petersburg, VA and after his discharge from the service, she moved with him to Altadena, CA. While in California, she became interested in Art and her paintings have been acquired by homes. She was active in the formation of the Westchester Chapter of Inner Wheel, which is an affiliate of the Rotary Club. She was a member of the Rye Presbyterian Church, where she was active on several committees and was also a member of the Rye Women's Club. She is survived by her husband Gustav W., a daughter Nancy Cook, a son David, three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Visiting hours will be from 7-9 pm on Friday, May 6, 2005 at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Rd., Rye, NY, where Services will be held 10 am on Saturday, May 7, 2005. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for the Salvation Army, 170 North Regent St., Port Chester, NY 10573 or the Children's Ministry at the Rye Presbyterian Church, Boston Post Rd., Rye, NY 10580.
