DOROTHY L. CHANDLER HOBART, IN Dorothy L. Chandler (nee Yates) age 97 of Hobart, passed away on September 12, 2014. She was born in Kuttawa, KY to the late Clarence and Sallie Yates. Dorothy was a homemaker, a quilter and a candy maker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James S.; sons: Alvin Richard and Kenneth Ray; daughter-in-law: Donna Chandler; brothers: Alvin and Allen Yates; sisters: Corrine Wadlington and Christine Waldrip. Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Peggy Smith of Hobart; and son Jim (Ruth) Chandler of Culver; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Sally Griffin of Middlebury, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart, Rev. Rebecca Smith officiating. Friends are invited to meet with Dorothy's family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
