Dorothy K. Paterson, 87, of Montrose, formerly of Setauket, LI, died Saturday at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Born April 20, 1917 to Thomas and Eleanor Dennis of Brooklyn, NY. During WWII, she enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an administrative NCO stationed in the United States and the Philippines from 1943 to 1945. In 1951, Dorothy married Douglas C. Paterson in NYC. She worked as a secretary for SUNY at Stony Brook and retired in 1976. Dorothy was a member of the Peekskill Presbyterian Church for the last eight years and was very active in their many organizations. She was formerly a member of the Setauket Presbyterian Church, where she was also very active. Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert of Cortlandt Manor; a brother, Robert Dennis of Bohemia, LI and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1989. A Funeral Service will be held 10 am Thursday at the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 313 N. James St., Peekskill, followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
