Dorothy-Edith-Keller Williams, born in 1916, spouse of Tom Williams, daughter of Edgar and Addie-C, mother of Hugh, Tim and Sally, died on January 28, 2015 at 99 years old.
WILLIAMS, DOROTHY EDITH KELLER - age 99, of Clinton, passed away January 28, 2015, at her home. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Dorothy, like her mother, Mrs. Edgar Keller, was the model of what a strong, moral, loyal, constant wife and mother is supposed to be. She matured in the Great Depression, making do with little while building a rich and successful life for her husband, Tom Williams, and their children Hugh, Tim, and Sally. She held the family together in the first prefab houses of the Oak Ridge military complex during the Second World War, all with grace, humor, and love. Amazingly she passed not the first complaint during those difficult times. Rather she made the whole process an adventure, insuring that her family was well cared for, secure, and loved. Among her accomplishments after the war was her tenure managing a motel to provide additional income. Her stories of the friends and customers she created, cultivated, and enjoyed was the stuff of a fully developed and magnificent mind and personality. Dorothy devoted her full efforts to Tom's aging mother and aunts, taking them on as her own. One of the great talkers of the world, she and Tom were constant traders at antique fairs. They were known and loved by all the regulars in that homespun enterprise. They became avid, and successful, at locating and acquiring, at the lowest possible prices, fine antiques and curios. These she treasured throughout her days. Later in life she had her greatest sorrow, her beloved husband, Tom, fell victim to Parkinson's disease, having a particularly long and difficult time before his passing. She was the ideal, loving caretaker, standing by him through every difficulty, and remembering him always for the kind, loving, humorous man he was. Dorothy was the seventh of nine children, eight of whom reached adulthood. Like Dorothy, they were a genetically favored group, five of them living well into their 90's. Dorothy is the last star of that constellation. Her passing closed an historic chapter, one in which any family may take great pride. And beautiful, radiantly movie star beautiful, it was a beauty she carried all through her life. One rarely sees a life so successfully and honorably lived. Dorothy is gone. She leaves for us the standard of what we all should be. Preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Martin Williams; parents, Edgar J. and Addie C. Keller; brothers, John Samuel Keller, Travis C.
