Dorothy A. Murphy of Waltham formerly of Stoneham died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 85. Born on Aug. 7, 1924, in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Anne (Russell) Smith. After graduating high school she moved from Charlestown spending time in Arlington, Stoneham, and finally Waltham. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing and following the Boston Red Sox. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Murphy. She is survived by her loving daughter Jeanne Moloney and her husband Richard of Waltham, her brother Warren Smith and his wife Betty of Wilmington, and her grandchildren Kellie Moloney and her fianc John Connarton of Waltham, and Ryan Moloney of Waltham. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Wednesday, Feb. 3., 2010, at 8 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Dorothy's life, at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
