ESSEX JUNCTION - Diane Gosselin Smith, 52, of Essex Junction, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, after a long battle with breast cancer, surrounded by family at the Vermont Respite House in Williston. She was born in Springfield on April 18, 1958, the daughter of Edward and Daisy (Rogers) Gosselin of Weathersfield. She graduated from Springfield High School, class of 1976. She later graduated from Trinity College in 1991 with an associate degree in business. Before her illness, Diane was employed at the law firm, Mertz Talbott and Simonds. Diane enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, skiing and spending time with her family. Diane is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Smith of Essex, a student at UVM, Emily Smith of Essex, a student at UNH, and her son, Shane Smith, a senior at Essex High School; her parents, Daisy and Edward Gosselin; her brothers, Gary Gosselin of Rowlett, Texas, David Gosselin of Springfield, Jeffrey Gosselin of Whitefish, Mont., and Peter Gosselin of Springfield; and nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Williston Federated Church with a reception following in the church hall. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Springfield, in the spring of 2011. Diane spent her last month at the Vermont Respite House where she received wonderful care.
