Cora James Brock Carter, 85, of 7 Shubuta Court, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002. Widow of Lewis Thurman Carter, she was born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Fred and Bessie Towe James. Mrs. Carter, a retiree of Southern Weaving, was a homemaker and was a Baptist. Surviving are sons, Robert Eugene Brock and Thomas Jackson Brock, both of Greenville; a sister, Ellender Carter, of Six Mile; a brother, Roy James, of Greenville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was predeceased by two sisters, Carrie J. Dean and Nina J. Bailey; and three brothers, Ivan James, Frank James and Jessie James. Visitation will be from 11 to 11:50 a.m. Friday, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral services will follow at noon, at the funeral home, with burial at Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Berea First Baptist Church, 529 Farrs Bridge Rd., Greenville, SC 29611; or, to VistaCare, 4006 E. North St., Greenville, SC 29615.
