Obituary of Constance-Elaine Hall

Constance Elaine Voth (nee Hall) Connie was called home to her Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Peacefully at the Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, Manitoba she passed away at the age of 79 years. Connie was born to Lance and Dorothy Hall on August 19, 1934 in the town of Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Living in Solsgirth, Manitoba, a town of approximately 250 residents, she was the middle child of two sisters Joyce and Janice. Her father worked as a grain elevator operator in Solsgirth until 1945. The family moved to Saltcoats, Saskatchewan in 1945 where her father co-owned a John Deere dealership and garage. After moving to Saltcoats she was diagnosed with polio. Unable to walk her father carried her to the car and they caught the train to Winnipeg for treatments. She would fully recover with little symptons the rest of her life. She finished up to grade 11 in Saltcoats and went to work at the local Bank of Montreal. In September 1951 her father passed away at the age of 45 from heart complications. After a year working at the Bank of Montreal she would leave Saltcoats to start her life long career of nursing. On November 15, 1955 Connie would graduate from the Yorkton General Hospital School of Nursing. She would nurse for the next few years until she would attend Birch River Bible Camp where she would be changed forever. It was here that she would find salvation through Jesus and a faith that would guide the rest of her life. It was this faith that would comfort her in her last days and now sees her in heaven in the presence of Jesus. Connie would return to school to strengthen her faith at the Winnipeg Bible College. In 1965 Connie she graduated with a Diploma in Theology. In 1966 and 1967 Connie would take on nursing assignments in Morden and occassionally Manitou. One patient suffering from phneumonia would catch her attention and end up being her loving devoted husband for 44 years. December 6, 1969 Connie would marry John Voth and the two would be together until her last day. Over the next 5 years she would put her nursing career on hold to start a family. In this time she would have two sons, Joel on September 29, 1970 and Michael on September 14, 1972. Connie often mentioned that she would have loved to have a large family with lots of kids but was unable to because of the age when she started her family. Connie would return to nursing in 1975 at the Notre Dame Hospital. She would eventually attain the position of director of nursing at the hospital in 1980 but would give up the position 5 years later because it was too demanding on her family. She would continue nursing at the Notre Dame hospital in a part time role for the next 11 years before retiring in 1997. Retirement was short lived as she would be drawn back to nursing after only a 1 year break. Connie would work casually at Northern Nursing Stations for the next 7 years or so. With her children now in careers of their own she would fly in to the nursing stations for one or two weeks at a time. In the years from 2005 to 2010, after waiting patiently, Connie would be blessed with four grand children (Levi, Ethan, Noah and Emma). Now she would be known as Grandma and treasured that role spoiling her grand children with every possible opportunity. Connie would become afflicted with respiratory problems in the spring of 2011 and would require the continuous use of oxygen. Although always hopeful treatment would cure her condition it would not be. After a short time in the hospital she would pass away on January 21, 2014. She leaves to celebrate her life her loving devoted husband of 44 years John Voth; two sons along with their families and her grandchildren, Joel (Rochelle) of Morden, Manitoba together with Levi and Ethan, Michael (Nicole) of McKinney, Texas together with Noah and Emma. Connie also leaves one sister Janice Robinson, two brother-in-laws Victor (Gwen) Voth and Rudy (Shirley) Voth as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by her parents Lance and Dorothy Hall, sister Joyce Boush, father and mother-in-law John and Agnes Voth and brother-in-law Dick Robinson. Family and friends are invited to celebrate and take comfort in that our faith lets us know she is with her Savior Jesus Christ and we will be reunited as a family again in time. Funeral Services will be held in the Manitou Mennonite Brethren Church on Monday January 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Derek Lehman officiating. Interment to follow at the Manitou Cemetery.
