Colonel-Patrick-Andrew O-Hare, born in 1944, father of Bridget and Meghan, died on December 25, 1944. Please consult the obituary here:
Colonel Patrick Andrew O'Hare Attorney and Marine Corps JAG officer, assistant attorney general of Virginia and proud father who encouraged 'his girls' to follow their dreams Patrick Andrew O'Hare was born on Dec. 25, 1944, in Orange, N.J., to Kathryn J. Schlegel and Martin J. O'Hare. He was the best Christmas present his parents ever had. He grew up in Millburn, N.J. The oldest of five children, "Paddy" was a natural leader and admired by many. Patrick was kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He had a contagious smile that could light up a room. His lively storytelling will always be remembered. Patrick settled in Richmond, Va., and raised his family there. He was a parishioner at St. Edward Epiphany Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time along the river, taking hikes, gardening, and watching bald eagles. He had a long and successful career as an attorney in the military and in both the public and private sectors. He was a longtime Marine Corps JAG officer and an assistant attorney general of Virginia, and represented business clients in the Richmond office of Reed Smith. He completed his professional career as counsel to the Home Builders Association of Virginia. What Patrick was most proud of was "his girls," Meghan and Bridget, who both love and miss him dearly. They are so happy that he danced with them early, turned the music up loud, took them out into nature, encouraged them to follow their dreams, and always let them know how much he loved them. Patrick spent his last few years in sunny San Rafael, Calif., close to his daughters. He lived at Aegis of San Rafael, where he brightened the days of those around him one smile at a time. On the evening of Feb. 12, 2015, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease, Patrick passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and those who love him. Patrick is survived by his brother, Martin J. O'Hare Jr.; daughters, Meghan and Bridget O'Hare, and their spouses, and three beautiful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Christine Watson, Kathy Faenza and Linda Gebauer. Patrick's memorial will be held at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va., at 2 p.m. on March 6, 2015. He will be buried with military honors. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Globe & Laurel Restaurant, 3987 Jefferson Davis Highway, in Stafford, Va. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Friends of James River Park, P.O. Box 4453, Richmond, Va. 23220, with specification that the funds are to be used to install a bench memorial in Pat O'Hare's honor in the James River Park. Condolences to his family can be sent to Bridget and Meghan O'Hare, 454 Las Gallinas Ave. No. 253, San Rafael, Calif. 94903. Semper Fi.
