Funeral services for Hearst resident Colette Marie (née Larocque) Bernier, 73, of Eighth St. were held June 21, 2002. She died June 15 at Sudbury Memorial Hospital from a heart illness. Born Aug. 20, 1928 in St-Bruno-de-Guigues, Témiscamingue, Quebec, she came to Hearst at a young age. After residing in Magpie near Dubreuilville, she returned to Hearst after her marriage at age 16. A restaurant waitress, she last worked at the Hearst S & L Husky House from the mid-1980s until 1992 when she lost sight in one eye at age 64. "She was an excellent worker who never missed work," former Husky owner Sheila Fowler Lamontagne said. "She was well liked by the staff and customers. They really enjoyed her, they treated her as a mom, and joked with her." Described by family as jovial, open, smiling, patient and a listener, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening and flowers, watching TV, and doing crosswords and puzzles. She was predeceased by husband Noël Bernier of Hearst in 1988, an infant daughter Marie Bernier of Hearst in 1946, 2 1/2-year-old son Paul of Hearst in 1967, brothers Rhéal Larocque in April 2001 and Léo Larocque in 1985, both of Espanola, and parents Magela Rivard in 1970 and Joseph Larocque in 1975. She leaves daughters Cécile (Maurice) Morin and Rita (Raymond) Paul, all of Hearst, and sons Fernand (Yollande) of Geraldton, Clément (Adrienne) of Mattice, Pierre (Louise) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, André (Carole) of Hearst, Jean-Guy (Cathy) of Dryden, Rhéal of Hearst, and Albert (Mélanie) Bernier of Kapuskasing. Also surviving are sisters Louizelle Bernier of Kitchener, Rita (Gérard) Matte of Sault Ste. Marie, Gisèle (Germain) Séguin of Timmins, Rollande (Joseph) Hunt of Espanola, Anita (Maurice) Séguin of B. C., Yollande Tuckett of Sault Ste.
